DeskTime offers two ways to log your work: Automatic tracking via the desktop app and Manual tracking through various input features.
Automatic tracking:
Once you install the DeskTime desktop app, it tracks your time and productivity in the background without any manual input.
Ease of Use: You can set the app to launch automatically with your operating system or log in/out manually as needed.
Key Features: This method offers Idle and Private time tracking, the Pomodoro timer, and other features based on your subscription plan.
Deep Insights: The app records specific applications used and URLs visited to give you a full picture of your workday.
Manual tracking:
Manual tracking is best for work done away from the computer or when the desktop app isn't active. You can log time using:
- Web timer: Start and stop a timer directly from your browser.
- Mobile time: Track time on the go via your smartphone.
- Calendar integrations: Sync your meetings and appointments.
- Logged offline time: Manually enter time blocks for tasks completed away from your desk.
Note! Manual tracking updates your total time and productivity scores, but can't record specific computer activities (URLs/Apps), Idle time, or capture screenshots. Other features, such as Private time, would also not be available
