The AI Summary feature appears as a Daily Summary in the My DeskTime section.
It generates a short summary for the day, based on the activity recorded in DeskTime.
To generate an AI Summary, you need at least 30 minutes of tracked time for the selected day. If there isn’t enough tracked data, the summary won’t be created.
If a summary has already been generated before, it won’t refresh automatically when you open the section again. To create a new version, click the Generate new summary button.
What does the AI Summary show?
AI Summary is designed for quick check-ins. It can help you see:
- Key activities
- Apps or projects that took the most time
- Insights based on tracked work
- Overall productivity over a day.
This makes it easier to spot the main focus areas, understand productivity patterns, and review how time was spent. Keep in mind that AI-generated content can contain mistakes.
NOTE! You can generate summaries for only a day at this point. Weekly or monthly summaries are currently not available.
Where can I find the summary?
The summary is available in the My DeskTime section.
If your user role allows you to view another team member’s My DeskTime page, you’ll also be able to generate summaries for that person. You can find more information on user roles here.
Which plans include the AI Summary feature?
The AI Summary feature is available on the Premium and Enterprise plans. Currently, it’s not available on the Pro plan.
Can users ask their own questions?
The AI Summary doesn’t have an interactive chat feature. Users can’t type in questions or custom prompts.
The summary is generated from the activity already tracked in DeskTime.
What data is used to generate the summary?
AI Summary is based on the information that’s already tracked in DeskTime, such as:
- work start and end times
- productivity and efficiency
- tracked, idle, online, and offline time
- project and app usage
- timeline activity (including window titles)
- away time and shifts
Some basic company details (like country and industry) are also included to support the summary.
Leaving feedback
After viewing the summary, you can rate it as helpful or not helpful. This feedback is used to improve the quality of future summaries.
If you’d like a different version, you can also click Generate new summary right away to create a new summary for the same day.
